Canadians want Premiers to adopt Principles for Health Care Transformation: News Release
Canadians want Premiers to adopt Principles for Health Care Transformation Victoria, Jan. 16, 2012 – A new public opinion poll …more>
Canada’s health care system is in need of a reboot. It focuses on treating sickness but not enough on helping Canadians stay healthy in the first place. Access to high quality hospital care is important, but so too is home care. There are great ideas, but our system lacks a way of ensuring that health care innovations proving successful in one place are duplicated elsewhere so that everyone in this vast country of ours can benefit. Nips and tucks won’t cut it any more – we need a holistic approach to overhauling the system.
To help spur action, Canada’s physicians, in concert with the Canadian Nurses Association, have developed six principles to guide health care transformation that have been endorsed by more than 80 medical, health and patient advocacy groups. These partnerships are critical because meaningful change will only come about if enough Canadians demand it.
